Hyperscale Data Center Capacity Doubles in Four Years

Colocation Data Centers See Increased Demand

The capacity of hyperscale data centers around the world has doubled in the last four years, according to a report by Uptime Institute. Colocation data centers are also seeing increased demand, with analysts at Synergy Research Group predicting that hyperscaler data centers will account for over 50% of total data center capacity by 2025.

This growth is being driven by the increasing adoption of cloud computing, which requires large amounts of data storage and processing capacity. Hyperscale data centers are designed to meet this demand, with massive scale and efficiency. Colocation data centers, which provide space and power to customers' servers, are also benefiting from this trend.

The report also found that the mix of data center capacity is quite different region by region. For example, in North America, hyperscale data centers account for over 60% of total capacity, while in Europe, they account for just over 30%.

Overall, the report shows that the global data center market is continuing to grow rapidly, driven by the increasing demand for cloud computing. Hyperscale data centers and colocation data centers are expected to continue to play a major role in this growth.
